ORCHESTRA STAATSBAD PHILHARMONIC KISSINGEN
”Sitting on earo chairs is like sitting on cloud 9!!! The sitting feeling is better than standing, with an upright posture you can breathe wonderfully relaxed and play music in a flow! We are very happy with the earo chairs. We find it very comfortable, even for long rehearsals. It is very easy to adjust the height and tilt of the seat to suit individual needs. Thank you for this amazing innovation for orchestra musicians, Earo!”

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Looking at the influence of physical stress on musicians Industrial Designer and Design Educator Dr Gearóid Ó Conchubhair began work on a musician chair as his PhD thesis at the NCAD, Dublin.
The RTE National Symphony Orchestra was central to the project in Ireland, giving access to rehearsals, performances and devoting time and detailed feedback during the testing of the many prototypes of the chair. This research along with data from 250 orchestras around the world led to earo’s unique design and its distinguishing advantage: promoting flexibility while also providing support so musicians are more at ease for longer.
“The challenge was to design an orchestra chair that would provide a tangible benefit to the well-being of the musician – and thereby enhance performance – and have to make a difference across the five main instrument groupings of the seated members of the orchestra – violin, viola, cello, wood wind, brass wind.”
Dr. Gearóid Ó Conchubhair, Industrial Designer and Design Educator.
